In class, we utterly obliterated innocent pieces of art. It was fun. No one had any guilt at all.
My group destroyed the plaster hand I mentioned in an earlier post. We were also supposed to have a meaningful or symbolic reason for destroying our art, but honestly, my group just thought it would be fun to launch something out of a trebuchet, because destroying things is fun. Not to mention that none of us are very good at creating symbolic metaphors.

Sadly, when I was destroying the hand, not everything went according to plan (plans are above right). We did not have enough wood for the support beam, so someone had to stand on a stool and hold the bottom of the beam. Also, we did not have enough rope to tie on the counterweight, and were forced to rely on balance. Despite these setbacks, we were successful in our test shot of a small rock, however when we decided to launch the hand itself, the launching arm fell out of it's lashing, loosing the holds on the other pieces of wood, and the whole structure fell into a big heap. The hand was still destroyed, though, crushed under the wood (above left). In the image, the thing that looks like a paper towel is what used to be the hand. The hand used to be what is pictured below.
